Material less than 3/8" thick is susceptible to magnetic bleed through, resulting in two sheets being lifted at once. *Round Item Holding Values are based on ideal conditions. Pipes length, Wall thickness diameter and surface condition can all affect the magnets performance. Please consult the factory before specifying these magnets for use on round material. These sheet sizes are selected due to the sag characteristics of the specified sheet. All other maximum sheet sizes are recommended due to the weight of the specified sheet. Attach the permanent magnet lifter to suitably tested lifting equipment, using the body hook. To attach the permanent magnet lifter to the item being lifting, simply offer the base of the unit up to a clean, grease free on the item. Determine the load weight and centre of gravity as accurately as possible. Once in position, move the magnet level fully anticlockwise until it is held captive by the level lock. Once attached, rise and move the item to where it is required. Before lifting/moving, ensure the load is free and not restrained by fixings etc. Lift the load a nominal distance to check balance and security of the load. Use tag lines to control long or bulky load.

Shells of Star Trace Lifting Magnets are made from high permeability Steel Casting as per IS:4491(BSS-1617), properly machined, to provide the most efficient magnetic circuit. The periphery of the magnet is heavily ribbed to give added mechanical strength and an increased radiation surface to aid cooling. Center & Outer Poles are machine from high permeability magnet steel with cored recesses arrangement to protect heads of through tensile bolts. The faces of poles from spigot joints in magnet shell, the outer poles of larger magnets are skirted for added. The pole shoes are easily replaceable.

TERMINAL BOX is designed to ensure protection whilst in operation and are of double entry type enabling the leads from the coils to be sealed in a separate cavity. The outside cable is brought through a gland into this second compartment ensuring no possibility of moisture entering the windings.

MAGNETIZING COILS for magnet size up to 900 mm dia is pure annealed wire wound and above these are strip wound. The glass insulation of class H standard with Fibreglass NOMEX tape forming an interlayer makes coil withstand high temperature.

BUMPING PLATES are of high grade Manganese Steel Casting as per IS - 276 with heavy ribs for added strength. These are clamped in position by the center and outer poles offering complete protection to the coil. The magnets are suspended with three legged STRING CHAINS made of best quality forged steel terminating in a forged ring. A two core cable is provided for connection with the supply and suitable insulated plug and socket ensure easy operation.

Rectangular Magnets for handling Steel plates, Bars, Billets, Sections and Tubes can be designed and manufactured to meet customers requirement. The construction of these magnets is similar to above with cast steel shell and poles fabricated from low carbon steel.Very long loads can be handled with two or more magnets spaced on a spreader beam to maintain equilibrium and ensure adequate supply factor.
